MONOLOGUE ACTING CLASS (Session 1 – SBK and Session 2 - SBS) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This one-and-a-half hour weekly class focuses on characterization and script analysis through the rehearsal and exploration of monologues. The monologues are taken from a broad spectrum of plays and represent both modern and classical time periods. Students will choose their own monologue and prepare it for presentation at each class. Students will be expected to give constructive criticism to their peers as they observe the other performances. Students will present a monologue of their choice at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $50.

2:00 to 3:30 P.M.
IMPROVISATION (Ages 10-18 – Session One and Session Two) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This in-depth three-week course teaches the fundamentals of improvisation – the art of acting with no script and will be useful to the novice and seasoned performer alike to build confidence in their performing skills! Special emphasis will be placed on characterization, teamwork and the “Three Rules of Improvisation”. Students will work with theatre games, fun props and contentless scenes to stretch their imaginations and allow them to think on their feet and follow their artistic instinct. Students will let their imagination and creativity guide them in creating characters with “Saturday Night Live” type situations and scenarios. This class is guaranteed to keep students on their toes!! Students will perform a group improvisation at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $50.
3:30 to 4:00 P.M.

4:00 to 5:30 P.M.
ADVANCED ACTING (SBK – Session One and SBS – Session Two) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This class is for experienced performers and will challenge students and stretch their acting technique with scenes and monologues that require risk-taking and emotional depth. Students will start out performing content-less scenes that inspire imagination and an investment in relationship with their scene partner. Then they will move on to working with monologues and scenes from the great American theatrical collection. Tuition is $50.
5:30 to 6:00 P.M.

“SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK LIVE JUNIOR” REHEARSAL – Director/Choreographer-Carol-Ann Black, Vocal Director-Liza Boos and Assistant Director-Rachel Capraro. You must register to be in this show and audition for your part—everyone enrolled is guaranteed a part in this musical! Tuition is $120 and includes a keepsake script and rehearsal CD and final cast party with pizza, soda and prizes for everyone.

Choreogra-FUN! (SBK- Session One and Session Two) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This one-and-a-half hour weekly class puts the emphasis on FUN through dancing and learning choreography – no matter what your level of dance experience – from “two left feet” to seasoned dancer!! Students will explore different genres of dance from disco dancing, ballroom dancing, to our upcoming musical, “The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle” and perfect their ability to pick up choreography quickly and efficiently. If you took this class last year, this year is all brand new dances!!! Students will work with their instructors to perfect a number to perform at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $50.
1:30 to 2:00 P.M.

6:00 to 7:00 P.M.
AUDITION BASICS (Ages 13-18 Session One only) taught by Andrea Blow. This three-week class will help students learn the art of auditioning. This class will help students pick out audition materials suitable for their age that plays to their individual strengths and shows off their unique talents. They will learn how to overcome their stage fright and how to silence the “inner actor voice” that sabotages auditions. Tuition is $30.
NOON to 1:00 P.M.
IMAGINEERING (Ages 4 to 8 Session One and Session Two) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This is a wonderful class for young students and beginning performers to get their imaginations revving! Through the use of fanciful costume pieces, silly sound effects and crazy theatrical props, students will get over their self-consciousness and overcome stage fright. This class also teaches basic performing skills such as focus, stage directions and theatrical terminology. Students will perform an Imagineering Exercise at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $40.

1:30 to 2:30 P.M.
THEATRE GAMES (SBK - Session One and Session Two) taught by Carol-Ann Black. This class will utilize theatre games to teach students the basic skills necessary for acting. Through interactive group games, children will improve their concentration and listening skills and with inventive role-playing they will learn to use their body, face and voice to create characters. Students’ imagination and creativity will be stimulated with storytelling games and pantomime. Students will perform a Theatre Game at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $40.
2:00 to 3: 30 P.M.
STAGE MAKE-UP APPLICATION AND DESIGN (Ages 12 to 18 Session One and Session Two) taught by Heather Adams. This three-week workshop will give students hands-on experience to become really adept at using stage make-up to achieve the proper look for their character!! Students will be taught how to design a character’s make-up, proper hygiene and application techniques and specialty make-up applications such as bruises, cuts, scars, aging techniques and fantasy make-up. Students should wear old clothing (stage make-up can stain garments) and bring a washcloth, towel and something to pull their hair off their face. This class will serve as make-up crew for the Diva 101 Fashion Show on Saturday, July 18th, 2009 at 7 p.m. and have their make-up designs on display at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $45 and a $5 Materials Fee to cover the cost of the stage make-up and supplies used during class sessions.

SESAME STREET SINGS (Session One – Ages 4-8 and Session Two – Ages 9-12) taught by Carol-Ann Black and Liza Boos. This one-hour class will hone students’ musical theatre skills as they learn fun songs from “Sesame Street” and are taught choreography to them. Songs and dances are designed to challenge young performers while giving them a working musical theatre vocabulary and the skills to follow sheet music and pick up theatrical choreography. Students will perform musical numbers they learned in class at the Camp ShowBiz Summer Extravaganza 2009. Tuition is $50.
4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
DIVA 101 FASHION SHOW (SBS – June 18th and 25th and July 2nd, 9th and 16th) taught by Carol-Ann Black and Liza Boos. This one and a half-hour class will teach actresses how to unleash their inner Diva. Students will be taught skin care, make-up application to accentuate their best features and camouflage their flaws, hair care and styling tips and fashion tips. Students will also learn how to walk the runway and will serve as the models in a Fashion Show showcasing the most outstanding costumes in ShowBiz history on Saturday, July 18th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. honoring the ten-year anniversary of costumer, Theresa Howell. Tuition is $80.
